SKANDERBORG HAS IT ALL

Skanderborg draws its strength and inspiration from a range of positive factors – some of which have been bestowed by Mother Nature while others are the result of constructive and dynamic interplay between the local population, the business community and the Town Council:

  • Delightful countryside liberally sprinkled with woods and lakes
  • An attractive central location in East Jutland, with good access to all the attractions of the region – cultural delights, educational institutions, etc.
  • Excellent traffic infrastructure – the airport and nationwide road and rail networks are all within easy reach.
  • A diverse and dynamic business structure with high prioritisation of the business climate
  • A reliable and highly skilled workforce
  • A truly remarkable range of opportunities for leisure and cultural pursuits
  • Good schools and higher education options
  • A competitive retail sector that offers a wide range of goods
  • A top-class, highly efficient municipal service structure

We believe that on the basis of these positive factors, we are extremely well placed to take on the challenges of the future:

  • The concretisation and implementation of the ambitions outlined in the new plan for town centre. The plan is entitled “Skanderborg has it all” and presents a vision of Skanderborg anno 2015. Including the development of the retail community. And the development of the town centre itself. And focus areas including activities and educational courses about physical and spiritual well-being. And much more besides …
  • The planning and extension of a new residential area to the north of the railway line – the Godthåbsområdet area.
  • The planning and extension of a new residential area including recreation sites between Stilling-Gram/Fruering and Højvangen.
  • Ensuring that the Municipality of Skanderborg continues to be a power-house within the field of inter-municipal collaboration – irrespective of whether this may take the form of actual mergers or voluntary working agreements.
  • Continuation of the work to make municipal operations more efficient, with full consideration for the balance between the level of service, citizens' expectations and low taxes – a balance we have developed in close collaboration with local residents and the business community.
